Main Highlights of Uganda
Kampala (Central Region)
Uganda’s capital, featuring Kasubi Royal Tombs (UNESCO), Uganda National Mosque, and Owino Market. A vibrant hub with Lake Victoria access.
Visitors will see: Historic tombs, bustling markets, modern and traditional architecture, and lively nightlife scenes.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Western Region)
A UNESCO-listed rainforest in southwestern Uganda, hosting nearly half the world’s mountain gorillas. Known for gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural tours.
Visitors will see: Mountain gorillas in their natural habitat, dense rainforest, colorful birds (350 species), and Batwa community interactions.
Queen Elizabeth National Park (Western Region)
Spanning 1,978 km², this park features savannas and the Kazinga Channel, famous for tree-climbing lions and 600+ bird species. Offers game drives and boat safaris.
Visitors will see: Tree-climbing lions, hippos, elephants, buffalo, and diverse birds along the Kazinga Channel.
Murchison Falls National Park (Northern Region)
Uganda’s largest park, centered on Murchison Falls, where the Nile drops 45m.
Home to 144 mammals and 556 birds, with boat cruises and game drives.
Visitors will see: The dramatic Murchison Falls, giraffes, elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and rare shoebill storks.
Kibale National Park (Western Region)
A 795-km² rainforest, the “Primate Capital,” with chimpanzee trekking and 13 primate species. Includes 370 bird species and Bigodi Wetland visits.
Visitors will see: Chimpanzees, red colobus monkeys, lush forest trails, and vibrant birdlife in wetlands.
Rwenzori Mountains National Park (Western Region)
A UNESCO site with Margherita Peak (5,109m).
Features 217 bird species, mountaineering, and Bakonzo cultural experiences.
Visitors will see: Snow-capped peaks, alpine meadows, Rwenzori turacos,
and Bakonzo villages.
Kidepo Valley National Park (Northern Region)
A 1,400-km² remote savanna with cheetahs, ostriches, and 475+ bird species. Offers game drives and Karamojong cultural visits.
Visitors will see: Vast savannas, elephants, cheetahs, antelopes, and traditional Karamojong kraals.
Jinja – Source of the Nile
(Eastern Region)
Located on Lake Victoria, known for the Nile’s source. Popular for white-water rafting, bungee jumping, and boat tours.
Visitors will see: The Nile’s starting point, turbulent rapids, scenic Lake Victoria views, and adventure activity setups.
